Munday + Cramer have again surpassed expectation, and are pleased to announce yet another successful year of securing Condition Improvement Funding for our academy clients. In total, around 100 schemes, totalling over £38m has been secured for the 2019/20 CIF funding round for academies in the South-East, London and Home Counties. The current round saw the ESFA’s spend reduce slightly to £433 million for 1,413 projects at 1,210 academies and sixth-form colleges. For the second successive year, Munday + Cramer’s staff dumped their hard hats and donned their pinnies to compete in a bake off! Joining Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, staff competed to create the best cake at a coffee and cake morning to raise much-needed funds for the cancer support charity. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in conjunction with the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) have issued a professional statement, offering guidance around Facilities Management procurement. In addition, the existing code of conduct will be amended for FM providers, and all RICS regulated surveying practices will need to adopt these new standards by October 2018. RIBA Architect Accreditation There are celebrations in the M+C offices this week as James Atkinson became the practice’s second RIBA chartered architect. James joined M+C as a graduate architect in 2008, and has been working towards chartered status since then. The accreditation process is both lengthy and in-depth, culminating in a professional interview which took place this week. M+C director, and head of our architecture department Phil Ruffle, himself a RIBA chartered architect, supported James through the process. M+C, Essex County Council’s Enterprise Advisory Service, RICS, and Anglia Ruskin University’s employability service have joined forces to produce a short film this week. The film’s purpose is to promote links between businesses and students from KS4 onwards, and features the practice’s Degree Apprentice, Michael Smith. Munday + Cramer has been very successful over the past few years, in CIF funding for Education. Since 2014, the practice has supported local academies in their funding applications, and has secured some £70m in grants. The function of the fund is to provide academy schools with the money needed to improve their buildings. The Grand Depart Classic event M+C Senior Surveyor and Project Manager, Mark Jackson took part in the 2018 Grand Depart Classic. This year was the third time that the event has taken place, raising money for Prostrate Cancer UK each time. The charity are committed to raising money not only to fund research, but also to offer support to sufferers and their families. The Ride Mark joined an intrepid team of 230 riders from all over the UK who cycled the 118 miles from Noirmoutier-En-L’ile to Fontenay-Le-Comte following the first stage of this year’s Tour de France.
