Munday + Cramer have handed back possession of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in East Ham to The Diocese of Brentwood following an extensive internal refurbishment. The scheme, which has transformed the 1960’s church presented major challenges due to the magnitude of the building; in particular the high roof line. Previously, the church featured a suspended ceiling, however the project removed the ceiling – accessing numerous high level windows and creating an amazing sense of space. Munday + Cramer are pleased to complete and handover the new multi-function hall and theatre facility for the popular secondary and sixth form academy in Thundersley, Essex. The new combined hall and theatre, which features fully retractable seating for around 300 students, and impressive sound and lighting technology will enable the school to develop it’s music and drama activities for students, as well offer greater flexibility for the school throughout the year. Munday + Cramer’s most recent healthcare project has recently broken ground, with the construction of a contemporary new dental and cosmetic surgery beginning in Cray’s Hill, Essex. Architectural Technician Stephen Martin has recently celebrated his 15-year anniversary with Munday + Cramer. Stephen joined the practice immediately after completing his A-Levels locally as a Trainee CAD Technician. Spotting Stephen’s potential, he was soon enrolled in a day-release BSc (Hons.) Degree in Architecture at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford as an early beneficiary of Munday + Cramer’s investment in staff. Munday + Cramer have recently achieved ‘Registered Practice’ status with the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists, further enhancing the Essex-based architectural and building surveying practice’s professional credentials. Stuart Cudmore, the practice’s Technical Director recently earned the MCIAT qualification. This was instrumental in allowing Munday + Cramer to become registered. Hot on the heels of a raft of recently completed architectural design schemes at The King John School is the delivery of a new assembly hall for the popular Thundersley academy. During the Easter break, main contractor TJ Evers capitalised on the good weather, erecting the steel framework which will form the backbone of the building. Essex-based multi-disciplinary surveying and architectural practice have successfully secured in over £6.0M of funding for Academies from our bid applications in London, Essex and Kent via the Education Funding Agency’s 2015/6 Condition Improvement Fund (CIF). CIF replaces the Academies Capital Maintenance Fund (ACMF) and encompasses projects for either condition-related work, or to support the growth of successful academies through expansion funding. Munday + Cramer achieved successes in both areas for seventeen academies. A large proportion of bids also incorporated Salix Funding for the provision of energy-saving measures. Munday + Cramer have recently received planning permission for a contemporary new cosmetic and dental surgery in Cray’s Hill, Essex. The result comes following a challenging planning process, requiring a number of design developments to reach a final conclusive and ultimately successful design. The new facility will replace an existing church hall. The All Saints Worship Hall is an unusual 20th Century design, and the proposed scheme has been developed to remain sympathetic to that structure in terms of appearance and the existing footprint.
