M+C Receives High Praise For Freshly Completed Church Refurbishment

Munday + Cramer have handed back possession of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in East Ham to The Diocese of Brentwood following an extensive internal refurbishment.

The scheme, which has transformed the 1960’s church presented major challenges due to the magnitude of the building; in particular the high roof line. Previously, the church featured a suspended ceiling, however the project removed the ceiling – accessing numerous high level windows and creating an amazing sense of space. To undertake the works, over 100 tonnes of scaffolding were utilised in order to gain safe access to the apex of the roof; allowing a full redecoration throughout and the installation of a range of lighting systems.

The scheme was completed within programme and features a number of special touches which will be detailed within a forthcoming case study.
