Munday + Cramer have started a range of roofing schemes on site this week in relation to CIF bids from the most recent round of funding from the Education Funding Agency. The full extent of this year’s £12.0 million of works are currently being finalised with clients, but this week sees the start of work on site for clients including Gable Hall School, Dilkes Academy and Benyon Primary School. All of these schemes are for roof replacement work, and illustrate the particular level of success seen by Munday + Cramer for this type of work each year. For Gable Hall School, […]

Works have recently started on-site at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Southend. The works include a range of external refurbishment/repair works, a roof replacement and internal remedial works. This extensive scheme follows a detailed investigation in to the cause of leaks; found to be a result of a progressive failure in the roof covering and fabric of the building, leading to both dry and wet rot in the roof structure and subsequent internal damage. A busy church in the heart of Southend; works will be undertaken whilst the church remains open, with works expected […]
Works are well underway at the Elliott Hall Medical Centre in Pinner, Middlesex to provide a raft of changes to the facilities to accommodate the continued growth of the practice. The scheme, funded in part by the NHS Estates and Technology Transformation Fund, will see the vibrant practice benefit from a multi-phase scheme incorporating both a major extension, space-planning and internal re-modelling to create a range of new facilities. The first phase has seen the construction of a new two-storey extension, expanding the existing ground floor waiting room and the practice’s training facilities located on the first floor. Subsequent phases have seen the conversion […]

Munday + Cramer have continued and expanded on their successes from the past three years in developing successful CIF bids for Academy schools across the region. This year’s recent announcements have seen M+C beat their record, scoring successful CIF bids amounting to just under £12,000,000 of work to be completed in 2016/7. The Condition Improvement Fund is allocated by the Education Funding Authority (EFA); to Academies for the maintenance and improvement of school facilities. The work is assessed by the EFA following a bidding process whereby M+C support the academies with technical input for the schemes including building surveying and architectural work. In […]
Munday + Cramer’s Marketing & Business Development Manager; David Williams is in the final leg of organising a major charity cycle ride on behalf of The Sick Children’s Trust. The event this June will present a team of cyclists from across the UK with a huge challenge; cycling from London to Le Mans, France (over 360 miles) in just 24 hours. In September 2014, David’s daughter Aoife was born in Colchester, Essex. Unfortunately, she needed significant medical support having suffered very acute Meconium Aspiration Syndrome (ingesting waste into her lungs while still in the womb). As a result, she was transferred to the […]
Asbestos has once again become a hot topic for schools. The Education Funding Authority (EFA) has recently asked schools to complete their ‘Asbestos data collection’ survey. This survey follows wide criticism that the EFA was not able to quantify the extent of the problem. The Property Data Survey Programme didn’t pick up on this issue despite its scale. As such, current estimates suggest 75% of the UK’s school estate contains Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs). Worryingly, the expenditure on removal of ACMs by Central Government has slowed with no mass-removal programmes currently afoot. Managing Asbestos Most of us appreciate the risk of Asbestos to health, but many are still unsure on […]

Munday + Cramer have handed back possession of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in East Ham to The Diocese of Brentwood following an extensive internal refurbishment. The scheme, which has transformed the 1960’s church presented major challenges due to the magnitude of the building; in particular the high roof line. Previously, the church featured a suspended ceiling, however the project removed the ceiling – accessing numerous high level windows and creating an amazing sense of space. To undertake the works, over 100 tonnes of scaffolding were utilised in order to gain safe access to the apex of the roof; allowing a […]
