The Education and Skills Funding Agency have this week opened CIF bidding for the 2018/9 round for academies and sixth-form colleges. As with previous years, the bidding window will close in mid-December, this year on the 14th. The now-familiar portal will be central to all CIF bidding activities; and will follow the same format. Munday + Cramer have this week been notified that they will be joining the Diocese of Westminster’s approved consultants panel. This seal of approval follows a raft of new instructions; particularly with academies and Multi-Academy Trusts across London and the South-East. Munday + Cramer joined Macmillan to be part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 29 September. As well as inviting contractors and colleagues for coffee and cakes; the multi-disciplinary architectural, building surveying and property management practice asked staff to leave their CAD desks and laser levels aside to take part in a ‘Bake Off’ competition. Munday + Cramer have again pledged their support for Gas Safety Week (18-24 September 2017) which aims to raise awareness of gas safety and urge the public to keep themselves safe from dangerous appliances. The seventh annual Gas Safety Week will see organisations from across the UK work together, to encourage all gas consumers to make sure they have their gas appliances are checked annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer and protect against the dangers of unsafe appliances, such as fires, leaks, explosions and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. The Orsett Show is one of the UK’s oldest one-day agricultural shows. 2017 sees the 111th edition take place on Saturday 2nd September. Last year, over 11,000 visitors attended the show. A pleasant weather forecast, and a packed schedule suggest attendance will be equally high this year. The show dates back to 1841 initially. Munday + Cramer have taken a bold step in their recruitment and development; offering the company’s first Degree Apprenticeship to a local Sixth Form student. Michael Smith; who studied at the William de Ferrers School, just a few hundred metres from M+C’s offices in South Woodham Ferrers has already joined the company. Munday + Cramer have achieved further success for Academy clients today within the 2017/8 CIF round. The announcement of the successful CIF appeal applications across the UK increased M+C’s haul by a further six projects. With just 75 successful applicants within the CIF appeal process; this reinforces the high success levels M+C consistently achieves within the Condition Improvement Fund. The successful CIF appeals provide an additional £2.6m of funding, for the six academies located across Essex, Thurrock and Kent. For the second consecutive month, the annual house price growth in the UK remained at 3.8%, the same level reported in March. The Halifax House Price Index today identified a slowdown in the market; further confirmed by the first quarterly decline in over four years. In the three months to April, prices were 0.2% below those of the previous quarter. This is the first quarterly decline since November 2012.
