Roofing and associated works
All buildings have a roof in some form or other. Whether pitched, flat or hipped; felt, tile, slate, zinc or rubber the function of the roofing remains the same.

However, when roofs go wrong the effects can be devastating. Not only can a building suffer from rotted joists, but also spoiled decoration, fixtures and fittings.

Schools and academies often find that when their roofs reach the end of their useful lives, it is too expensive to replace them from the usual ESFA funding. They can therefore choose to apply for additional funding via the CIF (Condition Improvement Fund) process.

Although academy Business Managers can make the application themselves, many choose to ask a consultant to help them. A good surveying practice such as Munday and Cramer will assess the current condition of the roof and complete a feasibility study. This information will then be used to help the school make an application for funds.

Roofing projects submitted to the ESFA for funding consideration form a large proportion of Munday and Cramer’s CIF caseload.  Last year, 2017-2018, the practice secured £ of funding for client academy roofing projects.
