National Apprenticeship Week 2026

This week is National Apprenticeship Week, celebrated annually across the country. It’s a time to recognise the achievements of apprentices and highlight the incredible opportunities that apprenticeships provide for young people starting their careers.

At Munday & Cramer, we’ve supported apprentices over the years as they’ve developed their skills and built successful careers in building surveying and architecture.

Why Apprenticeships Matter

Apprenticeships offer a unique pathway into professional careers. Unlike the traditional university route, apprentices earn while they learn, gaining hands-on experience alongside formal qualifications. They develop real-world skills, build professional networks, and graduate without student debt.

For businesses like ours, apprentices bring fresh perspectives, enthusiasm, and new ideas. They help us build a strong talent pipeline while contributing to live projects from day one.

Hearing From Our Apprentices

Josh, one of our Building Surveyor apprentices and Amy one of our architectural apprentices, share their experiences:

“Being part of the apprenticeship scheme has given me the opportunity to develop both academically and professionally at the same time. Being involved in real-time surveys and live projects allows me to see how the classroom theory developed at university translates into practical situations on site. Working alongside experienced colleagues has strengthened my technical understanding and given me the confidence to take on increasing responsibility. A career in building surveying is extremely rewarding, and I would recommend the apprenticeship route to anyone considering entering the profession.” – Josh – Apprentice Building Surveyor.

Josh’s words perfectly capture what makes apprenticeships so valuable – the blend of academic learning and practical experience that accelerates professional development.

“My time as an Architectural Assistant at Munday and Cramer has given me valuable skills for both life and my career. After finishing my architecture undergraduate degree, I was given the opportunity to join as a Level 7 Architectural Apprentice whilst completing my Part 2 and Part 3 qualifications. Studying at university whilst working alongside experienced professionals has really supported my technical and design development. Overall, it is a rewarding experience that continuously pushes my growth as an emerging architect.” – Amy – Apprentice Architect.
