Greensted Primary School and
Nursery – New Reception Area
Munday & Cramer is proud to have delivered this new reception area and school link project at Greensted Primary School and Nursery in partnership with A.W. Hardy. This project successfully merged the junior and infant schools into a two-form entry primary school and nursery, addressing both the schools needs and creating a better learning environment for students.
Following the merger of Greensted Primary School in September 2022 under the Lee Chapel Multi-Academy Trust, our team was tasked with designing and overseeing the extensive building works needed to physically connect the KS1 and KS2 buildings while creating additional educational spaces to support the school’s vision.
Our Approach
We worked closely with school leadership to understand their specific requirements, addressing both immediate needs and future growth potential. Our architectural team created a design that connected existing buildings while adding a modern space that enhances the schools look.
M&C facilitated the tender process, evaluating submissions based on quality, value, and timeline feasibility, ultimately recommending A.W. Hardy, as they tendered the most competitive bid.
Key Deliverables
We delivered a modern, welcoming entrance featuring a curved reception desk installation that serves as both a functional and eye-catching point for visitors. We designed purpose-built offices for the headteacher and finance team, creating an efficient administrative centre.
The thoughtfully designed corridor connecting the KS1 and KS2 buildings creates a unified school. We incorporated two nursery classrooms with dedicated toilet facilities designed specifically for children aged 2-4, supporting the school’s expanded early years provision.
Munday & Cramer’s design included a new infant classroom and soft play area designed to enhance the educational experience for younger students. Support facilities such as a kitchen facility and medical room ensure the availability of on-site support for students.
Our design incorporated several technical elements to ensure a high-quality, safe, and comfortable learning environment. This included installation of modern air conditioning systems throughout new spaces and a fire alarm system upgrade to meet current safety regulations.
Throughout the project, our team maintained regular site visits, client meetings, and quality control processes to ensure the development progressed according to specifications, timeline, and budget.
