As a result of a merger with another local surgery, and the need to accommodate the new members of the team, solutions were sought for the rationalisation and space planning of the existing surgery facilities. Whilst the existing building featured adequate space to house the larger team, significant surgery remodelling was needed to provide an additional five consulting rooms, along with new administrative and storage areas, and a platform lift for patient access.

As part of the overall process, M+C supported the client in the successfully gaining significant funding for the scheme from Harrow Primary Care Trust.

It was critical that the surgery remained open at all times throughout the delivery of the scheme. To facilitate this, works were divided in to four key phases. As a result, and element of out of hours work was undertaken so as to avoid the removal of services and not impact on the operation of the surgery during the working day.

The provision of the patient lift also presented significant challenges. Due to its location, a detailed structural survey could only be undertaken once the area was opened up, at which point additional work was recommended and subsequently undertaken.

Naturally, all works were compliant with the relevant NHS Health Technical Memoranda (HTM). All of the works were completed to the highest standard throughout, resulting in a delighted client.

“The Elliott Hall Medical Centre has, over the past few years grown and changed tremendously. The new surgery designed and delivered by Munday + Cramer is the pinnacle of these changes.”
