CIF 2026/27 Outcome

The Department for Education has now released the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) outcome for 2026–27, confirming 684 schools, academies, and voluntary-aided schools across England have secured £456,961,814 in capital funding for essential building improvements. As in previous years, demand for funding has been extremely high, and only the most strongest, well‑evidenced applications have been approved.

This year’s announcement sits within the context of the Education Estates Strategy, the DfE’s long‑term plan to modernise and future‑proof the education estate. With billions of pounds committed nationally, CIF continues to play a key role for academies and sixth‑form colleges to address urgent condition, compliance and safety issues.

For schools that have been successful, the focus now shifts to delivery. With in‑house Chartered Surveyors, Architects, Engineers and Project Managers, Munday & Cramer can support schools through this next phase, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high professional standard.

For those who were not successful, it is not the end of the road. Reviewing the feedback carefully, updating evidence and strengthening the narrative can make a significant difference. Some schools may also be eligible to submit an appeal, depending on how close their score was to the funding threshold. We have provided a separate guide on the appeals process for those considering this route.

Our team has helped hundreds of schools build successful applications over the years, offering a combination of technical expertise and practical project delivery experience that strengthens every bid. If you would like to discuss your outcome or begin planning for 2027-28, we are here to help.
