Building Surveying Work Experience – Oliver

We were delighted to welcome Oliver, a Year 12 student, for a comprehensive work experience week with our building surveying team. This placement provided an excellent opportunity for Oliver to gain valuable insights into the building surveying profession whilst experiencing first-hand the dynamic nature of our industry.

During his time with us, Oliver explored various aspects of building surveying. He developed essential skills in identifying building defects and structural issues during property investigations, gaining an understanding of the meticulous attention to detail required in our field.

One of the highlights of Oliver’s placement was the hands-on experience conducting detailed roof surveys using our state-of-the-art drone technology. This gave him exposure to how modern surveying techniques are revolutionising the way we approach property assessments, making them more efficient and comprehensive.

Throughout the week, Oliver worked closely with Josh Wells, who provided valuable mentorship and guidance on career pathways within building surveying. This one-to-one support helped Oliver understand the various specialisations available within the profession and the routes to achieving professional qualifications.

Oliver’s placement demonstrated how we utilise cutting-edge technology to solve complex property problems. From traditional surveying methods to innovative drone applications, he witnessed the full spectrum of tools and techniques that define modern building surveying practice.
