Phoenix Primary School approached Munday & Cramer, as they were facing a common challenge many educational institutions encounter: outdated facilities struggling to meet modern learning needs.

Phoenix Primary School had long outgrown its original infrastructure. The existing staffroom felt cramped and the staff required a modern vibrant place to refresh.

Our Approach

Our team began with an extensive site survey, measuring and assessing the school’s existing layout. Working closely with the Lee Chapel Multi-Academy Trust, we developed multiple design options that balanced practical requirements with innovative educational thinking.

The extension includes an ICT suite capable of hosting 30 workstations and a modern staffroom with a fully equipped kitchen delivered by MT Build LTD.

Key Deliverables 

The extension incorporated stylish aluminium window systems to maximise natural light throughout both spaces. The layout optimised the ICT suite to accommodate 30 individual workstations plus a dedicated teacher’s area. The dedicated staffroom featured a bespoke kitchen to provide the staff with a quality breakout space.

Our design incorporated level access thresholds for inclusive accessibility and acoustic partitions to minimise noise transfer. The ICT suite’s infrastructure included comprehensive cable management for a tidy look.

We ensured the building was in line with the latest health and safety regulations including fire safety such as emergency lighting, and escape routes whilst keeping the design modern and welcoming.
