Facility Management Company in the UK: The Boiler Upgrade Scheme

As a facility management company in the UK, we’re passionate about helping businesses and homeowners become more environmentally conscious. In order for you to do so, however, it’s important that you’re aware of what’s available to you.

Ordinarily, most people would be thinking about getting outside during the summer. However, given the underwhelming weather we have had as of late, the colder months are on a lot of our minds. What’s more, for those of you looking to make big changes before the winter, you need to start thinking about these now. And arguably one of the most important considerations for any business as we go into Autumn should be their heating system.

Boiler upgrades and heat pumps

Replacing fossil fuel boilers with biomass boilers or heat pumps can have a huge impact on your carbon footprint. In fact, due to their efficiency, this modification is something our facility management company in the UK is seeing more and more people take advantage of.

Fossil fuels are bad for the environment as they produce large amounts of air pollution. Not only is this harmful for our health, but these toxic emissions also contribute to global warming and climate change. Modern life was built on fossil fuels during a time in which we knew little about them. Nowadays, with plenty more research, people are becoming far more conscious of their carbon footprint. One way to reduce yours is by switching your old boiler for a new, more eco-friendly solution.

Heat pump statistics

Did you know…

  • Heat pumps require four times less energy when compared to even the most efficient alternatives.
  • Heat pumps reduce a home’s carbon footprint by around 70%.
  • Heat pumps last twice as long as standard boilers, with an average 20-year lifespan.

Raising capital

If there’s one thing the world is trying to tell us right now, it’s that we need to start taking better care of it. The vastly unusual July weather and global natural disasters only furthers proof surrounding climate change. As such, the importance of making eco-friendly modifications around your home is highlighted.

Of course, for many businesses across the UK, the cost-of-living crisis has been crippling as of late. With this in mind, now doesn’t seem like the most logical of times to be making big office upgrades. For those of you who are struggling, however, not all is lost. The government have a range of fantastic funding schemes available for those who are looking to do their bit as we near the end of 2023. What’s more, making these changes will ultimately save you money in the future!

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme was brought in by the government to help those within England and Wales to make eco-friendly upgrades to their business premises and homes. The scheme offers eligible parties a grant that covers half the cost of a new boiler. In order to access this scheme, you must:

  • Own the property you’re proposing a new boiler for.
  • Have installed the system on/after 1st April 2022.
  • Be replacing a system that currently burns fossil fuels (oil, gas, or electric)

Properties that aren’t eligible include:

  • New builds
  • Social housing
  • Properties that have already been given this grant before
