CIF Funding for Schools – Who is eligible?
CIF funding for schools is a type of financial aid provided by the government. The acronym stands for ‘Condition Improvement Fund’ and the aim of this budget is to help schools, academies and sixth-form colleges stay in good condition, or to improve the condition to get them up to an appropriate standard.
CIF capital funding is reserved for qualifying educational facilities that are in desperate need of repair works. These defects may be hindering the way they operate, or they could even be a health and safety risk. When granted, funding can then be used to make vital improvements.
Eligibility for CIF funding for schools
As we briefly touched on above, CIF is designed specifically for schools, academies and sixth-form colleges. This being said, not every educational facility is eligible. You can only apply for the next round of CIF funding if you are one of the following:
- School within a VA body or group (with fewer than 3,000 pupils or 5 schools)
- Sixth-form college
- Academy converter schools with a signed order
- Stand-alone academy
- MAT school (with less than 5 schools or 3,000 pupils)
If none of the above apply to you, you may be eligible to apply for a different type of funding. Examples of this include T-Level funding and SCA, which work similarly, in terms of having to apply via bid writing.
