Newlands Spring Primary School – Boiler & Heating Replacement

The Challenge
The existing heating infrastructure at Newlands Spring Primary School presented complex challenges. Years of wear had left the system in a precarious state, with obsolete components struggling to maintain basic functionality. The underfloor heating had failed completely, while corroded pipework threatened system integrity throughout the buildings. Perhaps most concerning was the system’s inability to maintain consistent temperatures that met regulatory requirements, putting both comfort and compliance at risk.
Our Solution
Rather than applying temporary fixes, we developed a comprehensive renewal strategy that would address both immediate concerns and long-term sustainability. At the heart of our solution lay energy-efficient air source heat pumps, chosen for their reliability and impressive lifespan of over two decades. This modern technology formed the foundation of our approach, but the transformation went far deeper.
We undertook a complete overhaul of the heating infrastructure, replacing every metre of compromised pipework. The installation of Low Surface Temperature radiators brought precise zonal heating capabilities, ensuring consistent warmth while eliminating any risk of burning. This attention to safety detail was particularly crucial in a primary school setting.
The introduction of an advanced Building Management System revolutionised how the school manages its heating. This intelligent system provides unprecedented control over temperature management, allowing for precise adjustments across different zones of the building. The technology not only optimises energy usage but also anticipates maintenance needs, helping prevent future system failures before they occur.
The Result
The results of this transformation have been remarkable. Energy costs have seen a significant reduction, while carbon emissions have dropped. The heating and cooling systems are much more reliable, which takes the pressure off the school’s maintenance team.
The new infrastructure creates an optimised learning environment where temperature concerns no longer distract from the important work of teaching and learning. By combining energy efficiency with advanced safety features, we’ve delivered a solution that will serve the school community for decades to come.
