Inspiring Young Minds: The Built Environment Award 2025
At Munday & Cramer, we’re all about nurturing the next generation of workers within the build environment. That’s why we are launching the Built Environment Award a creative competition that gets young students to get their creative caps on across our client schools.
What Is The Built Environment Award?
The Built Environment Award 2025 is a unique opportunity for students aged 6 – 16 to explore architecture, design, and construction through hands-on creativity. Participants are challenged to construct a 3D model of their dream house using any materials they choose whether that’s cardboard, lollipop sticks, foil, or something completely unexpected.
How The Competition Works
Students create their house models using materials of their choice, then submit a video (no longer than 60 seconds) showcasing their creation through our website. The submission deadline is Sunday, 14th December 2025.
To ensure fairness and equal opportunity, we’re selecting a winner from each year group, meaning students compete against peers of the same age. A panel of experts from Munday & Cramer will review all entries and select the winners based on creativity, originality, and execution.
What We’re Looking For
The beauty of this competition is that there’s no single “right” answer. We want to see:
- Bold ideas: Don’t be afraid to try something unusual
- Thoughtful execution: Whatever materials you choose, show us why they work
- Personal flair: What makes your design uniquely yours?
- Clear presentation: Your 60-second video should tell the story of your creation
Whether students design a futuristic eco-home, recreate a historical building, or invent something entirely new, we’re excited to see where their imaginations take them.
Building Skills for the Future
The built environment sector is evolving rapidly, with increasing focus on sustainability, innovative materials, and community-centered design. By engaging with these concepts early, students develop an appreciation for the world around them and the professionals who shape it.
At Munday & Cramer, our work with schools, academies, and multi-academy trusts goes far beyond building projects. We’re committed to supporting education in meaningful ways, and initiatives like The Built Environment Award is just one example of how we’re investing in young people’s futures.
Whether or not your school is participating this year, we hope this competition inspires conversations about architecture, design, and the built environment. Who knows—the next generation of innovative designers might be sitting in your classrooms right now, waiting for the spark that ignites their passion.
