Everything You Need To Know About Decarbonisation in 2024

What is decarbonisation? Decarbonisation is a crucial process in the fight against climate change. It all about reducing the amount of carbon emissions and other greenhouse gas emissions, such as electricity generation, transportation, and industrial processes. By transitioning to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources, implementing energy-efficient practices, and adopting low-carbon technologies, we can mitigate the impact of human activities on the environment and work towards a more sustainable future for our planet as per the governments ‘net zero strategy.‘ Why does it matter? Climate change is an urgent global challenge that demands immediate action, and we must take steps […]

5 Ways to Reduce Your Schools Carbon Emissions

As part of the UK’s binding commitment to reach net zero by 2050 all public sector organisations are required to put in measures to help. Here are five effective strategies that schools can implement to minimise their carbon footprint: 1. Switch to LED: LED Lighting is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions is to transition to LED lighting throughout your facilities. LED bulbs use up to 90% less energy than traditional bulbs and can last up to 25 times longer, substantially cutting down on replacement costs and maintenance. Making this simple […]

Government Grants for Energy Efficiency

With autumn fast approaching, for many homeowners, the colder months are firmly on our minds. Whether it’s a boiler upgrade or new insulation that you’re in need of, like many, you’re probably facing financial limitations given the current cost of living crisis. With this in mind, our team have put together this blog to let you know your many options when it comes to government grants for energy efficiency. What is a Government Grant? A grant is a type of financial funding that is not liable to be paid back. There are a plethora of government funded schemes on offer […]

Public Sector Decarbonisation Fund: Phase 3B

Thinking about applying for the Public Sector Decarbonisation Fund? Now more than ever, it’s vitally important that everyone is doing their bit to lower their use of fossil fuels. To help promote this, the government is offering funding to help the public sector decarbonise their infrastructure. This being said, applying for funding is easier said than done, with lots of hoops to jump through.  For more information on the scheme and how Munday + Cramer can help, keep reading.  What is the Public Sector Decarbonisation Fund? Public Sector Decarbonisation Fund Phase 3B from the government

What is new with Phase 3 PSDS Funding?

Last November we talked about the newly launched Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS). With the Phase 3 PSDS application period opening up in just a couple of weeks, we thought it would be a good time to revisit and take a look at what the focus is for this phase. What is PSDS? Just in case you are not yet familiar with the scheme, PSDS is a part of the government initiative to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions across the UK by 2050. Specifically for PSDS, the focus is on funding projects that reduce carbon emissions from buildings’ energy […]

The Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) – What Is It And Why Exactly Is It Needed?

Back at the start of October, the UK Government’s Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) launched a new scheme through the non-departmental public body Salix. It falls under part of the UK’s broader environmental commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2050. It’s known as the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) and it’s set to drastically improve energy efficiency within schools (and other public sector buildings) the nation over. And whilst not having been exclusively earmarked for the education sector, there’s a good chance that a large portion of the scheme’s funding will find itself […]
