Student Gets Hands-On Work Experience – Lewis Hatwell
We had the pleasure of inviting Lewis, a Year 12 student, for a week’s work experience with our architectural design team. It was brilliant to see his enthusiasm as he got stuck into the real world of architectural practice.
Lewis started the week learning the basics of measured surveying by taking on a full survey of our office building, Lewis quickly understood why getting accurate measurements is so crucial to everything that follows.
Lewis then moved onto using ArchiCAD software. Watching him pick up the fundamentals of creating detailed floor plans and technical drawings was impressive. There’s something quite satisfying about seeing those careful measurements transform into professional architectural documentation on screen.
The Bigger Picture
By the end of the week, Lewis had gained genuine insight into how precision and technology work together in modern architectural practice. He’d experienced the complete journey from taking measurements through to creating the technical drawings that form the backbone of any building project.
If you’re a students looking for meaningful work experience placements, we’d be happy to hear from you. We believe in giving students genuine, hands-on experience.
