Further Education College Condition Allocation Funding for 2025-2026

DfE Announces Further Education College Condition Allocation Funding for 2025-2026: What This Means for Your College

The Department for Education (DfE) has recently announced the Further Education College Condition Allocation (FECCA) amounts for the 2025 to 2026 academic year.

What is Further Education College Condition Allocation?

Further Education College Condition Allocation (FECCA) is annual funding provided by the DfE specifically designed to help further education colleges maintain and improve their physical infrastructure. This funding stream allows colleges to address essential maintenance needs, tackle deterioration, and ensure their facilities remain safe and suitable for delivering high-quality education and training.

The funding enables colleges to undertake various projects, including:

  • Building repairs and renovations
  • Heating and ventilation system upgrades
  • Electrical and plumbing system improvements
  • Energy efficiency measures
  • Safety and accessibility enhancements
  • Learning environment improvements

2025-2026 Allocations Now Available

The full list of FECCA allocations for 2025-2026 is now available, allowing colleges to begin planning their estates strategies. The methodology document can be accessed here.

Understanding the Allocation Methodology

The FECCA 2025 to 2026 allocation provides funding in proportion with the expected space at each provider. This is modelled using the academic year 2023 to 2024 Individualised Learner Record (ILR), specifically the snapshot 14 dataset (SN14).

This approach ensures that funding is allocated based on objective measures of college size and utilisation, helping to direct resources where they are most needed. Colleges with larger student populations and more extensive facilities will typically receive proportionally higher allocations to maintain their estates.
