Having worked with the Quarry Hill Academy on a long-term basis; Munday + Cramer fully understand the property needs of the school in terms of day-to-day needs and long-term strategic planning. As such, Munday + Cramer constantly assess the viability of projects against ACMF criteria to enable strong bids to be submitted.

Existing WC facilities throughout the Bradleigh Avenue campus were ageing, with increasing maintenance requirements and costs. Their layout was also ill-suited to today’s needs, as well as not meeting the school’s requirement for DDA-compliant facilities.

A detailed feasibility study and value assessment was undertaken to review identify the most appropriate solution for the WC facilities in terms of practicality and value for money. The resultant proposal included a full toilet refurbishment and remodelling of the WC areas, creating unisex toilet areas with communal wash facilities. The remodelling allows for better flow of people, as well as increased visibility of the areas, preventing loitering and anti-social behaviour.

A detailed case was built up for presentation to the EFA as part of the bid submission, including a range of supporting surveys and cost models, as well as the preparation and management of a full tender process to illustrate firm costs for the work.

With the bid successfully approved, the works were undertaken over the summer recess in 2014. Completed both on time and within budget, the contractor; Cherry Red Ltd successfully created pleasant new facilities that will support the academy in to the future.
