East Hanningfield C of E Primary School is a popular primary school, located close to Munday + Cramer’s offices. Situated in a picturesque Essex village, the school benefits from a good amount of outdoor space. The school’s facilities include an indoor swimming pool, enabling all pupils to benefit from swimming lessons throughout most of the year.

Whilst the pool and surrounding structure were in good condition, the quality of the flooring and cladding around the pool were beginning to deteriorate. Drainage of splashed water from the pool was also inadequate.

Munday + Cramer were appointed to design, procure and project manage a minor works scheme to address the issues. Forum Contracts were appointed as the main contractor for the project. Works to the swimming pool itself included removing the existing cladding, replacing the wooden substrate and then re-cladding in High Gloss Candy pink Trovex Diamond. The cladding was selected for its hygienic properties, as well as its extraordinary strength and resistance to impact, moisture and chemicals.

Around the pool, new drainage channels were chased in to the existing flooring. The flooring itself was renewed with new upstands to ensure the integrity of the floor. New walls were provided to update the changing areas, in keeping with the new cladding.

As a minor works scheme, the works were completed within the first week of the school holidays.
